| About the Author David L. Ray BA, LLB, CFE David Ray spent ten years as manager of corporate security for a large Canadian integrated oil company. In this position he was responsible for corporate security, safety, sustainable development and contingency planning as well as for the management of the two head-office facilities. Prior to that, he was corporate solicitor and director of corporate security with one of Canada's largest forest products companies. In the public sector, David spent fourteen years with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in various positions. This included six years with the commercial crime section where he was involved in extensive international investigations, some of which were in the Far East. David teaches security management and security law at the University of Calgary and security law at the University of Alberta. In addition, he instructs in harassment investigations and drug and alcohol policies at Grant MacEwan College as well as for corporate clients. He also instructs on-line through computer based training for the University of Calgary and the University of Alberta. He is the author of three texts on security management, security law and workplace violence. He has written four chapters for the Protection of Assets Manual including legal aspects of security and international contingency planning. He has also published numerous articles in a number of trade journals including Canadian Security, Security Management Magazine, Security Supervison, The Security Supervisors Training Manual and Security Business Practices. David is an accomplished speaker and undertakes numerous engagements every year speaking on security and legal related issues to groups throughout North America. David's practice with Kroll includes corporate security services to a number of Canada's major oil and gas companies. He provides expertise on fraud investigations, contingency planning and international travel. He also conducts due diligence inquiries to assist organizations with acquisitions and conducts harassment investigations and acts as an antiharassment advisor for his corporate clients. He has over 20 years experience in the security industry and brings a wealth of experience. David Ray is a past president and life member of the Canadian Society for Industrial Security and a member of the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police.
